As well as choosing a new MP to represent our area, on 2nd May, people in Blackpool will be voting to decide who will be our next Police and Crime Commissioner. It’s a big job, with big responsibilities. The PCC sets priorities for our local police, hold the Chief Constable to account, and sets the police budget.
Lancashire’s Conservative PCC Andrew Snowden has been hard at work, delivering on local people’s priorities. Working with local people he’s taking the fight to organised crime gangs. The police launched Operation Warrior to deliver on his demand that more drug dealers and crime gang members end up behind bars.
One of Blackpool and Fylde Coast's most notorious drug gangs has been completely dismantled with 26 of its dealers and organisers sent to prison for a total of 130 years between them.
And that’s not all. Working with the government he has recruited 612 extra police officers for Lancashire. Meaning more bobbies on the beat in our communities. He’ll work alongside myself to make sure we’re focussed on hotspots in Blackpool. Keeping our area safe for residents and visitors.
Andrew said:“Because of investments I am making, and the police focus on really taking the fight to criminals through Operation Warrior we are now seeing big results here in Blackpool and across Lancashire. But there’s still more to do. And to keep getting things done for people in Blackpool, I need a strong local MP who I can work with. That’s why I’m asking local people to back David to be the next local MP for Blackpool South”.
On 2nd May local people in Blackpool have a choice. To stick with the plan that’s working with our Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden. Or going back to square one with Labour.
