The overhaul will mean people will get the care and support they need so they don’t reach crisis point.The draft Care and Support Bill consolidates many different laws to create a single modern statute for adult care and support.The Care and Support White Paper, also published today, sets out how the social care system will be transformed from a service that reacts to crises to one that focuses on prevention and is built around the needs and goals of people.This builds on the Government’s decision to prioritise support for social care by providing an additional £7.2bn over four years.
The Prime Minister today announced plans to reduce radically the time it takes for a baby to move in with their permanent family.The Government will take action to put children’s interests first and legislate to make fostering by potential adopters standard practice in many cases, so that those in care are placed with carers who have the potential to become their adoptive parents, rather than in temporary homes.
